Has it really been a month?

To say we've been busy doesn't really suffice - aren't we always busy?  Isn't everyone?  I've just been too busy.  Here's a few things we've been up to:

1.  A little bit of Talent:

The three older kids had a talent show for one of their youth activities and it was a very entertaining night to say the least.  A descriptive summery of the evening?  Let's just say seeing Gable in pink tights (that's him on the left) was something I won't soon forget.


2.  A little bit of team work:

It's volleyball season again and lo and behold it's basketball season too (we've never had a basketball player in the family before).  As my dear husband enters another athletic season I wounder to myself how many more he can reasonably endure?  He was "Mr. Athlete" in high school - the 2nd in school history to be a 9 time letterman, but somehow ALL of our children seem to have more of my athletic tendencies than his.  It's not that we're not athletic - it's just that we lack that "eye of the tiger" instinct (or something) that makes one excel in sports.  We thought maybe Eli would be the one, but alas, he too seems to be more of a thinker...
As we watch Eli follow the mass of kids down the court Wayne (bless his little heart) is yelling "offense, Eli get ready for a pass" and "put up the block Eli, defense!".  I gently point out that he is doing no good because Eli has never even heard the words "offense" or "defense" and has no idea what he is talking about (our little basketball player can't even figure out which basket he should be running to).  When the game is over Eli illustrates my point when he comes up to Wayne and says "Dad, I know what offins is I just don't know what deffins is"...poor Wayne.



3.  A little bit of wish making:

To celebrate Zoe's Birthday we trekked up to the pumpkin patch and enjoyed a beautiful sunny Autumn day.
