Why I Love Being a Mom!

*  A special note - Sorry Tammy :), I really did do appreciate the sweet gift!This picture sums up just a few of the many reasons I LOVE being a mom.  Let me take a couple of momments to point them out:

1.  What's yours is mine whats mine is mine:

This was is a beautiful candle, given to me for Mothers Day to celebrate the privilege it is to be called "mom".  At first glance you might notice the lonely candy settled on the bottom and wonder why.  Well when it was given to me it was full of the lovely crystal coated gems which were intended to mix with the melting wax as it settled in around them to create a stunning effect as the candle burnt.  Not in this house.  I think the kids showed great restraint because they didn't grab handfuls of the candy and run off with it.  No instead with selfless self-control, they "only took one" knowing that taking just one candy wouldn't change the effect - until suddenly there weren't any left (yes the 2 you see in the picture have disappeared as well).

2.  Fingerprints:

When it was received, the small vase was flawless with crystal clarity, but as any mother knows, nothing is exempt from the smears and smudges left behind by tiny fingers (and not so tiny fingers).  They are everywhere and on everything and cleaning them off does no good, because tiny hands are inordinately drawn to clean, shiny surfaces.  Hey, is that a defect in my blog post?  Oh, no, sorry, it's just fingerprints on my computer screen.

3.  Unrealized intentions:

If you look closely you will notice the candle is still unlit.  I had intended to take the candle to my bathroom and enjoy a peaceful and relaxing bath.  I had intended to turn off the lights and sit in the near darkness watching the flicker of the flame as it danced about the top of the candle.  I had intended to watch as the wax slowly melted around the candies and created a swirling candy soup.....RIGHT.

4.  Nothing is ever really clean:

See the table the candle is sitting on?  Earlier it had been wiped down by one of the aforementioned candy stealers and was supposedly clean.  Well when you live with little people, nothing is ever really clean is it?  Another little nugget is that nothing stays nice either (case in point the candle gift, but check out those scratches and permanent marker on our beautiful table ).

Well there you have it, just a few of the many reasons I LOVE being a mom.  I don't exactly know where these reasons would fall among the long list of reasons - they would probably be somewhere between butterfly kisses and sibling rivalry, but way ahead of watching your teenager get behind the wheel of a car - now that's enough to make any mother question her resolve! (more on this to come).
