Life throws you curves

One minute you're  running through an airport, the next you're having  heart surgery....

We really do try to count our blessings everyday, but until you are faced with almost loosing someone, how can you really appreciate how precious your time with them is?  Wayne is the hardest person to get to a doctor, so when he was stopped in his tracks while running through an airport, it took about 2 weeks to convince him to get in to see the doctor.  We were sure he had an ulcer or reflux or something (who would ever think an active, healthy 42 year old could have heart problems?).  I was actually looking forward to his Friday morning appointment because I finally had him all to myself and I was dreaming about a lunch date after we got the doctors out of the way....little did I know he would be whisked away and by lunch time I would be sitting in a waiting room trying to figure out what happened.

BEFORE STENT (95% BLOCKED)

AFTER STENT
Here's the long and short of it:  He had a clot that came loose in his Lateral Arterial Artery or LAD (they call it the widow maker - look it up) and was a tiny thread away from having a heart attack.  Never underestimate the power of divine intervention and a strong, healthy body.  Had we known how close he was to having a fatal heart attack, I think I would have had a heart attack!!  He now has a new lease on life and true to form is working towards running in the saint George Marathon next year,  We have definitely taken pause, but will never underestimate the miracle we have been given and we are left forever changed.
