Sometimes they make you cry

There are times when kids make you want to pull you hair out or run down the street in your pajamas screaming for a timeout. There are times they make you puff up with pride because they are so perfectly wonderful – and then they make you fall flat on your face because your pride comes back to bite you. There are times when they make you exhausted because you just can’t keep up (most of the time), and there are times they make you wonder if you are in over your head, but......
Sometimes……..they make you cry….

Maddy wrote this poem for a school assignment and it makes me cry!

Where I’m from

First I was from Colorado.
From backyards and swing sets,
To seven silly eaters and banana bread,
And Bike rides always around the roundabout.

I was and still am from Sleeping under the tree,
And “Little piggies” every night,
From an older brother and little sister,
And from Friday field trips and the mean dog next door.

Then I was from Utah.
From deserts and snakes,
To missing school for floods,
And playing in it afterwards.

From friends across the street,
And walking to school,
From “Practice your violin”,
And Buccaneer Bucks.

Now I am from Parker and the mountains.
From lots of land,
and twenty seven animals,
And now four younger siblings,
And “Happy Birthday” almost every month.

To family baseball games,
With shoes as bases,
And burnt brownies,
And biscuits and gravy every Sunday.

From pianos almost everywhere,
And hot sauce on almost everything,
From church every Sunday,
And always from pajamas on Christmas Eve.

What a beautiful poem! I think you have captured the highlights of your young life so far. I can't wait to read the second installment as you grow into a beautiful young adult.

I just love her. Can I have her as my own? She really is the sweetest young lady out there.
