With the wisdom of time, I am thinking the reason I have been to the dentist 3 times in the last week is because we have been living on well water for the past 5 years (coincidently Eli's lifespan) and therefore my children have not had the benefit of having fluoride included in their water. As a whole we have great teeth in this family. If you don't include the countless emergency visits to the dentist for Gable's various knocked out teeth - or his braces - I'd say we've gotten off pretty easy with very few cavities over the years. That was until Eli's last check-up. His mouth was full of them and we have finally finished getting them all filled. Poor little Eli was such a great sport!!
You can see how stressed he gets over going to the dentist - he fell asleep in the dentists chair.

Since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped off at Aunt Carmen’s for some lunch and a game of checkers. Eli and Aunt Carman have a long standing tradition of checkers, and it was a heated game to the finish. Notice the chess board as the game progresses and notice the expressions on Eli's face - you can see he takes his chess very seriously.
Here he takes a moment to show Aunt Carmen his new fillings - it's probably just a diversionary tactic to distract her -
and it works because look at tthe joy on his face as he brings it in for the kill...

Sweet victory!
Come to think of it, maybe it's not the lack of fluoride, but more likely incidents like this that have wreaked havoc on his teeth.
