Time flies when you're having fun

As we traveled back to North Carolina, we left Virginia with some wonderful memories and a better perspective of the grand history of our country. Wayne and Gable were back to work while the girls (and Eli) and I traverse the hills of North Carolina in search of hidden treasures. We have gotten very adept at using our newest friend (the GPS) to locate all of the must see spots around the area that the locals probably didn’t even realize are here. One highlight was the fried pie and fiddle festival at an historic farm. We got to listen to old-timey music and eat fried pies and even got our picture taken for the local paper. I don’t think they’re used to seeing a family with 6 kids out here (that, or it was our accents). We spent a Day in Mayberry (Mount Airy) North Carolina and got to see the building Wayne was working on last year. It was neat to see the finished product – they did a great job and it was beautiful (if you can call mechanical equipment beautiful – it’s all in the eyes of the beholder). Then we headed to Galax Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains – WOW is it beautiful! I kept wanting to get a picture of one of the picturesque old farms with their red barns and colonial houses, but suddenly we were home and I never did get my picture. We stopped back in Mount Airy to have a world famous dinner at Goobers (as opposed to Aunt Bea's cafe)before coming back to Greensboro. The only thing slowing us down is the ear problems that are plaguing us – 2 trips to the urgent care and pharmacy visits galore and we still can’t kick them. Needless to say we’ve backed off the swimming for a while.
Eli got bitten by something and they gave us some onion to put on it - it worked!
