As Good As It Gets

A few weeks ago, before Wayne and I went on a date, I spent a considerable amount of time washing, buffing, glossing, primping, spraying, curling, and adorning myself, all in an attempt to make myself look as good as I possibly could.  I remember taking a good look in the mirror afterwards and laughing to Wayne, "well, this is as good as it gets", meaning me (well the way I looked anyway).

I don't think I'm really all that vain, but when you hit a certain age you must accept the unfortunate truth that our wonderful bodies   - the same bodies that carried us from our mothers womb, through the perils of childhood, into the explosion of adolescents and on to the beauty of adulthood with the possibility of creating new life -    hit a certain point when they are at their peak (somewhere between regeneration and degeneration) and then they round the corner and head off towards being old.  Now, I'd say I'm nowhere near the old stage, but I have to admit that I have rounded that corner (actually it was a few years ago) and I'm pretty sure it's all downhill from here (outwardly speaking of course).

So, it just so happens that a certain someone recognized that maybe I was in need of a day all to myself.  A day set aside - just for me - where people cater to my every need and pamper me with relaxation (and exquisite food).  This certain someone also realized that ending that day with an evening out and then a night in (away from little people) followed by an uninterrupted morning with breakfast in bed would be just the way to top it all off.  Boy do I love that certain someone!  Anyway, after having this experience and with all the extra "help" I can only conclude that this really is as good as it gets:[slideshow]

I would be remiss if I didn't thank the kids for being such good sports - so excited for me, and for cleaning the house and looking out for each other while we were away - I've got the best family!
