Not Carnegie Hall, but we'll take it

Music has become a big part of our family and although we will never be mistaken for award winning musicians (I take that back, Maddy did win $15 when she was 8 in the County fair fiddling contest in St George!), the kids have found a way to incorporate music into other aspects of their lives. Admittedly, I have been the driving force behind keeping up with the practicing etc., but I would like to think they appreciate the opportunities they have had sharing music over the years - I would like to think they will appreciate having a musical background as they grow, and I would hope that possibly one or two of them might make music into something they cherish. In the mean time, we continue to participate in performing at church, recitals, orchestra concerts, impromptu grandparent performances, and family home evening sing-alongs etc.

#1 CYSO

Zoe had her debut orchestra performance with the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra last week and did a great job.

Glory and Maddy are veterans with the CYSO, but this is Zoe’s first year.

Maddy made the higher orchestra this year and has graduated into a truly accomplished musician. Yes, the years of lessons have begun to pay off as it is pleasant to listen to her play!

(Not that it's not pleasant to listen to Zoe and Glory!!! Of course not!!!)

#2 A solo Recital with the debut of the kids own quartet

The kid’s violin/viloa teacher included an ensemble performance and had the girls play in a quartet. How fun to have them all playing together – Maddy’s a good sport to play with the other girls and even lets Zoe play the 1st violin part so she can get the experience - who knows in a few years they might sound really good!
