Speaking of Venus

The girls were more than willing to be my guinea pigs while I tested out the different settings on my camera (just working to perfect my craft – I have a long way to go!), but it got me thinking about girls. Where would we be (where would Mars be) without Venus?

Venus is the reason we have Drama in our lives. Like the weekly performances of one kind or another. Everything from Fergie (Maddy) and the Black Eyed Pea’s (Glory and Zoe) dramatic interpretation of Boom Boom Pow or a wedding reenactment including Oliver (our new cat) as the ring bearer to the dramatic show we have the privilege of witnessing every morning as they get ready for school.

Venus brings us emotion from every angle – you never really know where it’s coming from, but come it does …elation, trauma, joy, and crisis and everything in between. Could there be anything better than watching as your beautiful girls share a moment of genuine bliss while playing dress-up, or anything more bittersweet then seeing those same girls wounded to the core at a perceived slight or injustice? Emotion….it turns on a dime and it keeps life exciting!

Again, I know boys have Drama, and they certainly have Emotion, but as a mother, there’s just something about watching your daughter and being able to “feel” what they’re feeling, being able to share what they’re going through.

I do love my boys with every fiber of my being, but I am so thankful for my girls, my “sisters”, for being an extension of who I am, for being everything that I wish I could be. For being uniquely themselves and being perfectly exceptional.  For being the future mothers of my grandbabies….And yes for making me want to pull my hair out and run down the street in my pajamas screaming.
