Where do I start.....?
Let's see I could start with the fact that Wayne was out of town for Valentines Day...no wait, let me go back further. I knew something was up even a week before when Maddy was conspiring with all of the kids about something that was TOP SECRET. They made several trips to various stores all under a veil of secrecy....fast forward to the day.
Wayne was out of town and had "accidentally" texted me about a business meeting he was planning on in the morning. Maddy told me Gable was going to be my valentine for the day. She needed to come home early from school to get started, so Gable took care of carpool while Maddy locked me up alone in my room (little did she know this alone could have counted as a perfect treat). At about 5:30 she flew into my room and demanded I put on my "little black dress" and leave the house. She gave me exactly 60 seconds to get changed as she was shoving my heels into my hands and forcing me out the door). I really had nowhere to go, so I drove to the Target and sat in the parking lot. To seal the deal here is the text conversation I had with Gable:
Gable: "Why are they making me dress up for our romantic night?"
Me: ?? I'm sitting in a little black dress in a parking lot, so you better be a good sport!
Gable: Wowww
Me: Wow what
Gable: I do not appreciate all this
Me: Well you better try to appreciate it! They've gone to a lot of work!
gable: Ugh
Finally I get the call to come home. There was a note on the door welcoming me to Paris and Gable was waiting at the door (not wearing a suit I might add...I should have known something was up...I mean something more than what I already thought was up).
Anyway, he escorted me to what was our dining room and there was Wayne with a bouquet of flowers.
Looong story a little shorter: The kids planned and executed a beautiful "Evening in Paris" for Wayne and I, complete with a 5 course meal, a beautiful view, french music and doting wait staff. The only part of the surprise Wayne was in on, was the fact that Maddy insisted he make it home, whatever the cost. We were treated like royalty and I'm pretty sure this is one of those memories that will make me cry when I'm old and all the kids have gone. We are very blessed with great kids! Yes, they can be exhausting, but they really are wonderful!!
Pictures from our night in Paris taken with the only camera I could use (my phone), because they wouldn't let me get my camera.

What a wonderful surprize my budding chefs pulled off. Thank you for doing it for your Mom and Day. Meun looks like it should be copied down and tried again. Love you all so much. Momma
I already love your kids, but now I love them even more -- how sweet!
